FAQ

Here are some common questions we have gotten.

Quick Summary of Basic Information

Here's a FAQ that details all of the basic information for WCPL Events. If you have questions regarding anything WCPL that is not covered here, please feel free to contact us.

Events
Each event is handled independently by that event's promoters. While rules and entry fees are standardized from event to event, and while most everything else that might concern a team are as well, each promoter handles things themselves. So, for example, if you are a vendor that wishes to display at an event, you need to contact the individual promoter (not the league) to make those arrangements.

Fees

Entry fees are collected by the individual promoters (not through PBLeagues.com). Entry fees are set by the individual promoters.
The Southern California Classic entry fee is $1500.00
Air fills are INCLUDED with that fee.
Paint may be FPO or BYOP.  Contact the individual promoter for details.

Markers
The WCPL is a Mechanical Paintball Markers only league. If you insist on using an electronic marker, the Rate of Fire must be limited to 5.5 BPS*. (Borrow a friend's mech instead – its a lot more fun that way!)
Markers may use a solenoid to actuate firing mechanisms. However, all markers, regardless of actuating mechanism, must be limited to “no more than one paintball [is] discharged during each firing cycle”.
MagFed Markers are allowed (subject to other marker rules).
First Strike paintballs are prohibited.
Modifications such as Legacy Mods or Responsive Triggers are not allowed.
All markers with any form of external velocity adjusters must be modified in such a way that the velocity adjuster is not readily accessible during the course of the game.

Woods Ball
WCPL concentrates on playing its games in natural settings – the same kinds of fields that the first games were played on.
Some locations also include “mounds” fields, where the playing field has been sculpted with mounds and berms, since experience has shown that fields of that type largely provide the same kind of playing experience as games in the woods.

Format
Ten player Capture-the-Flag (and return it to your base).

Games
Each game is scheduled for a maximum of 12 minutes of play
Each team will play 8 Preliminary Round Games

Team Ranking
The WCPL uses it's own ranking rules within the APPA/PBLeagues system. Participation at WCPL events will NOT affect an individual's ranking at any other event managed by the APPA/PBLeagues system.

Registration
Only your TEAM has to register on PBLeagues.com.
You do not have to register individual players.
You do not have to obtain APPA/PBLeagues Player ID Cards.
You do not have to pay an APPA/PBLeagues registration fee.
Note: Since teams do not have to pay their registration fees through the PBLeagues' website, that website will not accurately reflect the number of teams currently registered for an event. If you woujld like to find out what an event's attendance is likely to be, please contact the individual event promoter.

Other
The WCPL favors promoting the sport of paintball, recognizing the game's roots, the camaraderie of players and teams and the sheer joy of getting like-minded people together in the woods for some fun experiences over “competition”. Sure, performance on the field is important, but so is the telling of tall tales afterwards.
WCPL events give players the opportunity to hobnob with some of the great and legendary players, teams and history of this sport, to learn about its origins and development, to meet and greet first hand some of the people and players who made this sport what it is today. WCPL events are more than just tournaments, they're Paintball Experiences!

  • What is the ultimate goal for the WCPL?

The WCPL circuit includes field owners and promoters that have one thing in common. The league members believe that the players should have other options to play the Classic Format. Not every player can commit and/or travel to multiple events. The WCPL wants to offer events at a nationwide and worldwide level. The main objective of the league is to grow the Classic Format and support the players by giving them a voice at our events. The league members are interested in giving the players the best event possible which means events that are affordable, well-organized, well-refereed, and with a bring your own paint option.

  • Will every event be run by the same promoter?

No, each event has its own promoter in charge of the actual running of the event. The promoters do work together as a collective group to present a consistent event in rules, format, and fair play.

  • What divisons will be availabe at WCPL?

For the 2022 Season, all events will be considered an "Open" class division. At the end of the season, the top-seeded teams (number of pro teams will be decided based on participation) will become the Professional teams for the 2023 season and there on.

  • Will all events have the same format?

No, events will offer various formats.  Some will offer 5/7/10 man formats. To earn a spot in the Professional division, teams will need to compete in the 10 man format in the US or in the 7 Man format in the UK.

  • How do I get signed up for an event?

Registration for each event will be available thru www.pbleagues.com, stay tuned and get signed up on our email list or follow us on social media to stay informed.

  • Does a team need to play every event to retain a Professional status?

Teams that have earned their Professional ranking will NOT be required to attend every event. Professional teams could lose their ranking at the end of the year only by the relegation process due to a lack of seed point results for their season. More information on relegation details coming soon.

  • Are electronic guns permited?

Yes. Electronic guns must be capped at 5.5.bps.
